Piano Lessons
Andrea Kebede is an English Education graduate of Virginia Tech, where she was also a piano student of Mary L. Hallauer. She has accompanied and performed for various churches, choirs, vocal soloists, instrumentalists, competitions, weddings, worship teams and vocal college classes. As a piano teacher, she welcomes any student with a desire to enjoy and learn the piano, from young children to adults. She emphasizes and offers a comprehensive training in music theory, technical exercises through etudes and Hanon's series, building an eclectic musical repertoire from Couperin to Bernstein and historical analysis to understand the structure, style and character of each piece. Though she advocates these, she first serves to further the student's interests as a rising pianist. Therefore, if a student wishes to focus on chamber music over solo pieces, she first attends to the student's immediate needs. In addition, she does encourage talent and creativity by teaching composition and arrangement of piano literature, if this is what the student desires to pursue. For both children and adults in the beginning stages, she primarily teaches from the Faber and Faber books. For students in the intermediate and advanced stages, she encourages students to study 2 to 4 contrasting pieces simultaneously (along with Hanon's series) to obtain a breadth in the artistry of each piece studied.

Standard rates are $25 for a half hour or $45 for an hour lesson.
